DBS Checks 4U – Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction

These Terms & Conditions govern the use of DBS Checks 4U ("we", "us", "our") and the services we provide for Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) applications.

By placing an order, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

2. Our Service

DBS Checks 4U acts as an authorised DBS umbrella body, processing Basic, Standard and Enhanced DBS applications on behalf of eligible individuals and organisations.

We facilitate the application process but do not issue DBS certificates ourselves. All certificates are issued by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

3. Eligibility

It is your responsibility to ensure you are eligible for the level of DBS check you request.

If an incorrect level of check is selected, we reserve the right to:

  • request additional information;

  • refuse the application; or

  • amend the application where appropriate.

Any additional fees charged by the DBS due to incorrect applications remain the applicant's responsibility.

4. Identity Verification

You must provide genuine, valid and current identification documents.

Supplying false, altered or misleading information may result in:

  • immediate cancellation of your application;

  • no refund being issued; and

  • the matter being reported where legally required.

5. Payment

Payment is required before processing begins.

Prices include our administration fee unless otherwise stated.

All prices are displayed in Pounds Sterling (£).

6. Processing Times

Any processing times displayed on our website are estimates only.

Although many applications are completed within 24–72 hours, we cannot guarantee completion within any specific timeframe as processing is ultimately controlled by the Disclosure and Barring Service and, where applicable, local police forces.

We accept no liability for delays outside our control.

7. Refund Policy

Once an application has been submitted to the DBS or processing has begun, administration fees are non-refundable.

Refunds may be considered where:

  • duplicate payments have been made;

  • payment has been taken in error; or

  • we are unable to process your application through no fault of your own.

Government DBS fees may not be refundable once submitted.

8. Applicant Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • provide accurate information;

  • respond promptly to requests for additional information;

  • supply acceptable identification documents;

  • ensure your contact details remain up to date throughout the application.

Incorrect information may delay or invalidate your application.

9. DBS Certificates

For most applications, DBS certificates are issued directly to the applicant's registered address.

We do not receive copies of DBS certificates unless specifically authorised under applicable DBS procedures.

You are responsible for sharing your certificate with your employer where required.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DBS Checks 4U shall not be liable for:

  • delays caused by the DBS or external agencies;

  • loss of employment opportunities arising from processing delays;

  • incorrect information supplied by applicants;

  • postal delays or lost certificates;

  • events outside our reasonable control.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the application.

11. Data Protection

We process personal information in accordance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and DBS Code of Practice requirements.

Your information is only used for the purpose of processing your DBS application and meeting our legal obligations.

12. Right to Refuse Service

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel applications where:

  • eligibility requirements are not met;

  • fraudulent documentation is suspected;

  • abusive or threatening behaviour is directed towards our staff; or

  • processing would breach DBS rules or UK law.

13. Complaints

If you are dissatisfied with our service, please contact us in the first instance.

We aim to acknowledge complaints within two working days and resolve them as quickly as reasonably possible.

​

14. Changes to these Terms

We may amend these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The version published on our website at the time of your order will apply.

15. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
